Meet some MK Girls (MKG)

Meet Abigail:
My name is Abigail Eager. I live in La Paz, Mexico with my family. There are six of us; I have one older brother and two younger ones. My parents and their co-worker's mission here is to reach out to the youth and community by use of sports and other activities.

I play on their high school basketball team which is a mix between boys and girls (mostly boys). Some of my hobbies are painting and teaching younger kids how to play basketball. I love living in a different country and culture and sometimes I feel more at home here in Mexico that in the USA.

I'm unsure about my future and everyday I have to remember to rely on God's promises that he has a plan for my life; a plan for a hope and a future. Its not always easy though to not know what your gonna face and I DO struggle, all the time! However as long as my hope is in God I know he'll give me peace.
By His Grace,
Abigail

Meet Ali:

Hi, I'm Ali! I live in Cameroon, West Africa. I'm the oldest of five kids, which can get a little crazy, but is really fun, too. My dad is a helicopter pilot who flies translators in and out of their villages, and generally makes life easy for them.

I enjoy reading, (so much so it gives the word bookworm a new meaning) writing, and general crafting. I love living in Cameroon. It's really pretty, and very green! We typically live in the village, but haved moved into the capital, and I'm getting to go to a christian international school this year, which is really cool, since I've been homeschooled up until this point.

I struggle a lot with letting God take care of me.  I push too hard, or wear myself out, and then I'm burnt out.  Relying on him and trusting him to know what's best and always be there, is hard.  But oh, so worth it!  I trust him to give me peace and joy.

God Bless,
Ali

P.S. If you want to ask questions, chat, offer suggestions, or have an idea about a post be sure to comment and I'll get a hold of you!  ;P

Meet Kate:
My name is Kate McLean and I am currently in Cameroon, Africa with Ali Spangler. I am 14 years old and in 9th grade. I am an extrovert who loves to talk and is terrible at spelling. I was born in Cameroon in Ali's village and grew up home-schooled in a smaller village out in the bush. Currently I am in Yaounde going to a school here. I have two siblings, an older sister and a younger brother. My dad works as a linguist and bible translator, and my mom does pretty much everything else.

I have a lot of things I like to do, but my main hobbies are crafting, reading, and sports.  If you were to ask me what my favorite sport was I would tell you soccer without a doubt. I am also in a group at school called Drama Evangelism. What we do is put on different skits that are about anything from Christ's death, to hypocrisy in the church, to false pride, for people to watch and  find an interest in Christ. I have always considered Cameroon home for me, and love my school and friends.  Whenever my family goes on furlough, we stay in Ontario, Canada with my family there.

I have been learning over these past few years that I am in God's hands and what that means for me. I love to serve God, and I'm pretty sure I will be a missionary
when I'm older. I've struggle with the feeling of belonging. I've hung out with a lot of people and consider them friends, but when I think about it I never fully fit
in one group. In my first through second grade I was basically the only girl in my class, which I was fine with, but a lot of those boys left for good or for furlough at the same
time, so I had to look for a new group. This continues to happen and I feel as if I belong to each group, but not fully. For a while I didn't realize that I believed that God
couldn't make me belong, but upon realizing what I believed I knew it wasn't true. I now know that it is a blessing to have so many friends that are different,
and that I belong in God's hands.

His will be done,

~Kate

P.S. My email is katemclean73@gmail.com if you want to talk, or have any questions. I can't promise a quick reply, but I will try.

  2. Hey Bethany! Glad you like it! I'm trying to be fairly consistent about posting at least once a week, and we're trying to get Kate set up soon too, so it'll be more consistent-ish

  4. Ali, I used to live in Cameroon too! And I'm also the oldest of five.
Kate, I so understand the feeling of wanting to fit in and feeling like you don't. I've felt like that often, but over the past few years I've come to realize that I don't have to fit in to be happy because Jesus is my Best Friend.
I'm so glad I found your blog! I can't wait to read more of what you have to say!
